Text Alignment refers to the processes by which the numbered sequence of signs (akṣaras) or segments on an image are linked to the sequence of syllables on a text document prepared by an editor.
- The initial integration of image, text, and model configuration data generates a TextBase, i.e., a database for a single text.
- The individual linkage of each akṣara on an image to the syllables of a transliteration generates a Substrate.
- A Substrate is created for each transliteration or edition that is aligned with the image of the primary source.
- Although a TextBase is singular, it may encompass multiple Substrates.
